Panax ginseng is the best ginseng to use to boost energy and improve digestion. It is a supreme energy tonic and even in small amounts it is very effective to improve energy levels, vitality and endurance.
Panax ginseng is also called Chinese Ginseng. It is the type of ginseng traditionally used in Chinese medicine herbal formulas to improve health. It is also called “Asian Ginseng”.
It is not recommended for people with high blood pressure to take panax ginseng without professional advice. Panax ginseng makes the heart stronger and in so doing, could increase blood pressure in some people. Consult your acupuncturist for advice on this.
Panax ginseng is used in Chinese herbal medicine that can be purchased over the counter. It is also sold as something called “ginseng extractum”. This is ginseng that comes in liquid forms in glass bottles. It is made in China and sold over the counter. I cannot vouch for the strength of this ginseng. I suspect that the quality is not as strong as ginseng that is manufactured in Taiwan. Taiwan has pharmaceutical factories that are also used to make Chinese herbs. The herbs are carefully evaluated and processed to ensure strength, quality and purity. I would rather take one pill from these types of companies, than have a whole bottle from a company that makes herbs of unknown strength. The factories in Taiwan quality test their herbs twice. You know what you are getting when you buy top quality herbs. You also know there is no risk of heavy metal contamination or other sorts of quality issues that can occur with patent medicine.
Chinese patent medicine is big business in China. There are cases where patent medicines have been counterfeited and sold on the open market. There are also cases where the herbs that were sold had drugs in them that were not listed on the label. This is common and popular in China, to combine herbs and drugs, to my knowledge, but knowing your herbs are not contaminated with drugs is important.
Chinese patent medicine often comes in pellets. They are little round balls that look like rabbit pellets. These are also called “tea pills”. They are combined with honey and bought over the counter in China. I have personally found the strength of these herbs to often not be as good as it could be. I prefer using stronger herbs and not having to take as many pills.
